BEN LEVINE
2026 SOZO FELLOW
MULTIDISCIPLINARY ARTIST
WASHINGTON, DC
Ben Levine is a multidisciplinary artist, designer and creative producer. He brings over 15 years of experience to his roles as the Producing Director of Extreme Lengths Productions, and Director of Production at Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company. Named “Best Up-For-Anything Technical Director” by the Washington City Paper, Ben works as a theater technician and carpenter, as well as a lighting, scenic, and projection designer for dance and theater. Ben’s go-big-or-go-home attitude, collaborative ethos, and disinterest in traditional proscenium performance have led him to develop a distinctive style of design- and technology-driven work. Born with Erb's palsy, he has collaborated with leading disability arts companies including Heidi Latsky Dance, AXIS Dance Company, and Kinetic Light. His current body of research, Kinematic/Kinesthetic, has been supported by the MAP Fund, a Hewlett 50 Arts Commission, and the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities. He holds degrees in Theater Arts and Mathematics from Drew University.
